Michael “Jammer” James

Chairman

Michael “Jammer” James has been involved with the Flowers Band for over thirty years. Jammer went with the band to Austria for a tour in 1989 on trombone and signed for the band on the bus journey back. He held the position for many years with a certain Brett Baker sitting on Solo. After retiring from playing some years later, Jammer took up the role of chairman within the band and has been a crucial part of Flowers Band for the past three and a half decades.

Jammer is involved in the wider brass band scene through his roles with both Gloucestershire Brass Band Association and The West of England Brass Band Association.

As a newly-qualified teacher in Corsham, Wiltshire, Karin was soon involved with the town brass band transferring her skills as a pianist to tuned percussion. In the mid 80’s, a relocation to Gloucester with a new job saw her join the Flowers Band, enjoying its winning period during the 80's and early 90's.

No longer playing regularly (although the sleighbells do come out at Christmas!) Karin is now a vital part of the administration team with her role as Librarian, being a general administrative wizard, band mum, and can always be found on the CD stand at our concerts.

Karin makes an invaluable contribution to the banding scene in the region in her roles on the GBBA and WEBBA committee’s, organising contests and events for all to enjoy.
