The award-winning Flowers Band of Gloucester return to Stroud Sub Rooms for an afternoon of world class music making. 

The programme will include a delightful variety of styles, including original music written for the band, classic brass band repertoire, arrangements of pop hits and more!  Flowers' star soloists will be on their feet once again, to dazzle the audience with their virtuosic technique and stunning musicality. 

The band will be making our annual appearance at The West of England Regional Championships once again.

The award winning Flowers Band of Gloucester will be performing a joint concert with a workshop band of Ledbury Town Band and friends at John Masefield School.

Players from several local bands shall come together earlier in the day to work with tutors from Flowers Band before performing in concert that evening. The first half will be performed by the workshop band before the Flowers Band take to the stage. The concert will conclude with a massed band of over 100 musicians performing together.

With music ranging from film soundtracks, marches, original music for brass band, world class soloists and so much more, there really will be something for everyone on the programme. Come along and support your local musicians as they are joined by one of the best brass bands in the world.

This event is an opportunity to see behind the scenes of our contest preparations, as we get ready to make our debut at The European Brass Band Championships in Linz, Austria.

The event is free to attend, but ticketed due to a limited capacity.

Tickets will be released in January 2026.

The Flowers Band return to Newbury Spring Festival with a programme that really does have something for everyone.

The band will perform ‘Orbital’ by Ivor Novello award winning composer, Richard Blackford. This exciting work is Richard’s first work for Brass Band and Flowers Band are delighted to be part of the consortium that have commissioned this major piece, with support from BBC Radio 3 and The Radcliffe Trust.

Other programme highlights include a world premiere of a new major work for Euphonium from the pen of Lucy Pankhurst. The piece will be performed by Dan Thomas, the band’s Solo Euphonium player, one of the world’s most in demand Euphonium Soloists.

The band will also perform a world premiere of a new concert opener by Kelly-Marie Murphy, a renowned Canadian based composer who has written for ensembles such as the Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Toronto Symphony Orchestras.

The rest of the programme will feature the band’s stellar soloists, include music from well known film, and more original music for brass band.

At the peak of their powers, each presenting a programme of contemporary and traditional repertoire, along with major solo works, effortlessly linked by the inimitable Frank Renton.  Each band will be encouraged to present themselves in their best possible light, playing to their strengths and free of the stresses and strains of contesting. The 2024 National Champion Band of Great Britain return to Number 8 for an afternoon concert with a programme that has something for everyone. From film music to brass band classics, original music written for the Flowers Band, and world class soloists, this concert is sure to entertain.
